What the 8182703 does
The 8182703 is a hydraulic shock absorber that dampens the inner tub during the spin cycle. Each washer has 2-4 of them, mounted between the outer tub and the cabinet base. When they leak fluid or the bushings wear out, the drum bangs against the cabinet on every spin and the whole machine walks across the floor.
Symptoms when this part fails
- Loud banging or knocking during spin cycle
- Washer walks or moves during spin
- Visible oil leak under the washer
- Drum visibly bouncing more than half an inch when pushed by hand

- Whirlpool front load washers built 2003-present (most WFW series)
- Maytag MHW series front loaders
- Kenmore front load washers (Whirlpool platform, model numbers starting with 110.)
